1 map	BAMBI FAST FOOD CAFÉ There are a lot of kebap & döner places on Taksim square but this one is the most popular. It has been there for ages. It has fresh pressed juices and varations of döner and sandwiches. Bambi has different shops in that street, so be sure to look for the "Bambi Cafe"
2 map	KAKTÜS CAFÉ ¤ BISTRO ( the name means "Cactus" ) Imam Adnan sok. No: 4 - Tel: (212) 249 5979 Opened more then 10 years ago, it has been a hang out place for poets, filmmakers and artists.
3 map	ZENCEFIL CAFÉ ¤ RESTAURANT ( the name means "Ginger" ) Kurabiye sok. No: 6 - Tel: (212) 243 8234 It's a vegetarian place, with good healthy food and desserts. They also have fruit wines, I advise the pomegranate wine! Nice atmosphere, has also a outside part.
4 map	HAYAL KAHVESI CAFÉ ¤ BAR ( the name means "Cafe of Dreams " ) Büyükparmakkapı sok. No:19 - Tel: (212) 244 2558 A couple of evenings a week, there is live music. From cover bands to gipsy music.
5 map	NEGARATSI CAFÉ Sakızağacı Cad. No: 3 - Tel: (212) 243 3869 It was a long time ago I was there, but I remember it as a cosy place, with a surrealistic decoration. If you like something on the wall you can buy it! It doesn't serve alcohol.
6 map	PENDOR BAR Yeşilçam sok. No:26/3 - Tel: (212) 252 8055 Opened a long long time ago, it is one of the few pubs that survived the electronic & chill out trend and kept its music taste in rock and metal. Good place for music lovers and cheap beers.
7 map	URBAN CAFÉ ¤ BAR Kartal sok. No: 6/A - Tel: (212) 252 1325 urbanbeyoglu.com Hiding in a side street, in an old building that housed everything from bakery to dressmaker shop. It has been a café for 10 years. It has a cosy and quiet atmosphere, plays mostly acid jazz and other jazzy music.
8 map	ARA CAFÉ Tosbağa Sok. No: 8 - Tel: (212) 245 4105 The owner of this cafe are, the famous photographer Ara Güler and production designer Yaşar. The food is good and it has a nice atmosphere. You can sit outside or enjoy Güler's photographies inside.
9 map	MARKIZ CAFE ¤ PATISSERIE Istiklal Cad. No: 360 - Tel: (212) 251 7581 It is right next to MARKIZ PASSAGE (build in 1840), with shops, bars and cafés inside, spread on three floors. This café, opened first in 1940, is a historical place. The Art Nouveau-style wall coverings at the entrance were made from the patterns of artist J.A.Arnoux. These panels, were meant to depict the four seasons but there are only "autumn" and "spring". It was a hang out place for artists and writers. It was closed together with the passage in 1980 and restorated. After passing in front of the closed building during my whole childhood, I finally got to go there after it re-opened a few years ago. It was a disappointement, the atmosphere wasn't cosy and the service not very nice. But it is definetly worth seeing the inside! Maybe it changed through the years.
10 map	5. KAT CAFÉ ¤ BAR ( the name means "5th floor" ) Soğancı Sok. No:7 Floor:5 - Tel:(212) 249 6608 5kat.com It has a very nice view on the Bosphorus. I only had drinks there, but it also serves everything from breakfast, brunch to dinner.
11 map	BABYLON BAR ¤ CLUB Şehbender sok. No:3 - Tel: (212) 292 7368 babylon.com.tr Live music club, presenting music from jazz, world music, to elactronica scene and DJs within a monthly program. They also organise music and dance workshops. Closed on mondays and during the summer.
12 map	MIHRIMAH SULTAN CAFÉ ¤ RESTAURANT Kumbaracı Yokuşu No: 77 - Tel: (212) 293 6627 mihrimahsultan.net A place where you can escape from the city feeling, you can eat, drink and smoke waterpipe... It has a garden, cosy in the summer with a light breeze. Inside there are usually paintings of photos exhebited. They serve homemade food. Opens early in the morning, serves alcohol first after 16:00 o'clock.

16 map	360 DERECE BAR ¤ RESTAURANT ( the name means "360 Degrees " ) Istiklal Cad. Mısır Apt. Floor:8 No:311 - Tel: (212) 251 1042 360istanbul.com It's a fancy place with fancy prices but an amazing view - as the name indicates, it has a 360 degrees panoramic view, great during the day, great at night. Conceptual evenings, DJ parties...
17 map	LIMONLU BAHÇE CAFÉ ( the name means "Garden with Lemons " ) Yeniçarşı Caddesi No: 98 - Tel: (212) 252 10 94 It's one of the first cill out places, after going through a long corridor, you end up in a cosy garden, wich has air conditioner in the summer. It is a nice place to escape to from the city chaos. Go for the strawberry lemonade!

It has one big saloon, like in the good old days (FITAŞ 1), and the rest are small
saloons with small screens.

LALE

One really nice, old style and big saloon.
It is also used in the opening and closure
of the istanbul Film Festival.

It shows smaller, independent films sometimes.

NEVIZADE Street

A street full with pubs and restaurants.
Impossible to walk through without someone
offering you a table.
If you want to it a la turca, with mezes and good fish, try the IMROZ or BONCUK restaurants. Usually you agree on a menu.
- If you're planning to have one too many drinks, it's best to agree a menu on advance
to avoid any problems with the addition at the end. It's like having tequilla shots, you just sit there for hours and eat, eat, eat and loose count of what you've been eating...

At the entrance of the street on the right, there's SECRET GARDEN, café and bar. It's spread in three floors with different styles, there's also a terace. DJs in the evenings.

ASMALI MECIT Neighborhood

The Sofyalı street, has develop a lot in the last 5 years. Pubs, restaurants and cafés...
I recommend the restaurant SOFYALI,
a "meyhane" just like Imroz and Boncuk.
further towards Tünel, there's a open passage with more cafés.
OTTO restaurant is further down the street where BABYLON is, a little more fancy place serving italian food.
The prices are of all kinds in the area.

13 map	KREDI GALLERY (Yapi Kredi is actually a bank) The gallery has changing exhebitions, and it has a good library on the corner.
